A Real Sweet Deal…

Hostess Brands Inc. plans to ask for a judge’s approval Thursday to give its top executives bonuses totaling up to $1.8 million as part of its wind-down plans

It seems in the upper echelons of the business world you get a big bonus if your workers work hard and the profits come in.  But it also seems that if you screw up the company and turn it into a tear-apart bankruptcy you also get a big bonus to stay around to rip it apart.

The little guy just can’t seem to win in today’s capitalistic world. I will lay dollars to donuts (pun definitely intended) that the line workers will be summarily terminated without a dime’s worth of severance.

BTW, For all you guys that are panicking because you might lose your ding-dongs not to worry as the article says there is a lot of interest in buying up the parts. Ding Dongs will stay a vital part of your life. :)

It does seem immoral and unethical for a bankruptcy to reward those who couldn’t come up with a working business model. While many blame the union for being greedy and forcing the company to close I am wondering why the executives couldn’t develop a plan to recognize the shift of many of us away from junk food. To base a company’s future on selling unhealthy products and then be taken by surprise when sales drop indicates the company leaders weren’t the brightest bulbs in the lamp..but they will be rewarded anyway.
