Getting To The Root Of It All … Part 1

One of my primary mottos in life is to question everything. As you know that is one of the three things on my permanent header here at RJsCorner. Questioning everything is not limited to things I am told to accept without questions, they also include my current beliefs. That is what this two-part post is going to be about. The picture above does a pretty … Continue reading Getting To The Root Of It All … Part 1

Considering My Options For Future Living

I am a list maker and planner, that is who I am, and due to my Aspie traits I put logical thinking above most emotions. In that regard, I realize that I will very likely outlive my wife by possibly several years. She is seven years older than me and in precarious health. When we moved to our current homestead twenty years ago she made … Continue reading Considering My Options For Future Living

Into The Looking Glass – 2017 – 2021

This is a personal perspective of the years between 2017 and 2021. This post is not meant to provide you with a high-level view of the world during this period. Instead, it is from the viewpoint of the 71-year-old to a 74 year-old with some pretty significant Aspie traits, although I didn’t know it had that name. Of course, the main subject on this period … Continue reading Into The Looking Glass – 2017 – 2021

Life Stories – I Do Pro-Bono Work, If The Price is Right

I don’t really remember where the title came from for this post, but I kinda think that getting paid for pro bono work means much more than money. In my pre-retirement life I just didn’t have the time to do much volunteering. I did do a bunch of maintenance work for a downtown Catholic diocese that just didn’t have the money to hire a professional. … Continue reading Life Stories – I Do Pro-Bono Work, If The Price is Right

Weekends Are For Chilling Out.

It’s been quite a while since I posted on weekends here on RJsCorner. I needed the time away to get my head into the proper perspective. With this post I am starting weekend posts once again, but it will be significantly different from the regular week-day posts. Weekend will have nothing to do with the current times. Instead, its just pictures and stories. I hope … Continue reading Weekends Are For Chilling Out.

Into The Looking Glass – 2000 – 2016

This is a personal perspective of the years between 2000 and 2016. This post is not meant to provide you with a high-level view of the world during this period. Instead, it is from the viewpoint of the 54-year-old to a 70 year-old with some pretty significant Aspie traits, although I didn’t know it had that name. This time period started out with a possible … Continue reading Into The Looking Glass – 2000 – 2016

Corporations & Unions – The Same Tactic?

All the civil unrest because of the George Floyd murder has brought serious attention once again to police departments around the country. Numerous articles are floating around about the possible root causes for these types of incidents. One that stuck out the most for me is the police unions complicity in causing harm to the reputation of police officers. Simply stated, they don’t allow the … Continue reading Corporations & Unions – The Same Tactic?

Outside The Box…

I love outside the box buildings. They spark my creative imagination. I love things that stretch your imagination, stretch your brain. For this post, I want to show you an “outside the box” art museum.  I don’t think there is another building quite like this one.  It is the Milwaukee Museum of Art. I usually only give you one photo at a time but since I … Continue reading Outside The Box…

Where Is The Middle Ground?

The movie Soylent Green was made in 1973 about the coming apocalypse in 2022. According to some worldviews, that is what is happening now. All those big cities are paying the price for their decadence. They got what they deserved is certainly the mantra in many small towns across America. That mentality is at least a little relevant to today’s post. Unlike Soylent Green this … Continue reading Where Is The Middle Ground?

The Less Crappy Stuff… SpaceX

I want to end this week’s posts with some less crappy stuff. Even for these times, it has been a spectacularly crappy week. The current Oval Office occupant (#CO3) has outdone himself with his stupidity. That is evident since even some Republicans now are starting to criticize him publicly. But I kinda think the reason for that possible criticism is self-survival. They don’t want to … Continue reading The Less Crappy Stuff… SpaceX

Policing The Enemy or Protecting & Serving?

Let’s face it, in most major cities and even small and middle size ones police departments are coming under fire. There are just too many George Floyds happening. But then again, maybe with the certainity that any police abuse will be recorded has just brought it to the fore front. I recently put out a post where I said 95% of any police force are … Continue reading Policing The Enemy or Protecting & Serving?

Into The Looking Glass – 1980 – 2000

This is a personal perspective of the years between 1980 and 2000. This post is not meant to provide you with a high-level view of the world during this period. Instead, it is from the viewpoint of the 34-year-old to a 54 year-old with some pretty significant Aspie traits, although I didn’t know it had that name. The years between 1980 and 2000 were pretty … Continue reading Into The Looking Glass – 1980 – 2000

Police Brutality – It Just Makes Sense

No, I am not saying that in general police brutality is the norm across the country. I am sure that 95% of those on a police force are doing their job of serving and protecting. It is that 5% who are giving the rest of bad name and reputation. But, the other 95% are complicit in in that reputation by allowing those rouges to continue … Continue reading Police Brutality – It Just Makes Sense

Reckless Endangerment… And The Virus

When a person is found guilty of reckless endangerment he can get up to a year in prison. That is the law. I’m sure sometime in the future this law will apply to those who willfully choose not to wear a mask in public places. Given the fact that, if the evidence proves true, pandemics will become much more prevalent in the future, it will likely happen soon.

In To The Looking Glass – 1965 – 1980

In 1965 I was a high school senior in a very small-town rural school. The building was built about 80 years before and the creaking stairs and just about everything else showed the wear. The basement used to be the gymnasium but that had sometimes since moved next to the International Harvester repair shop downtown. We were the biggest graduating class in the schools’ history, all sixty-nine of us.

I Am A Rock, I Am An Island, I Am An Altruist

Because of my Aspie traits I have lived a good portion of my life feeling I am alone in this world. No one else seemed to see the world as I did. So, when in college in the 1960s I came across the words

I am a rock
I am an island
...
And a rock feels no pain
An island doesn't cry.

All About Meltdowns…

I have let it be known many times here on RJsCorner that I have significant Aspie traits. I have not been officially diagnosed, nor do I care to be, so I don’t call myself an Aspie. If you want to know more about this condition, at least from my personal perspective click here.

I had an Aspie type meltdown about three weeks ago that scared me. I have had a few more since then so I kinda get the reason for them. If you care to read about my first meltdown click here to see that post.
