Distressed…

One thing that spreads across the U.S. landscape are distressed rural buildings.  Now that corporations pretty much have taken over the old small farm buildings have been abandoned. I have more than 800 photos to help document them before they are all gone.

One of my primary hobbies is to take pictures of all the old barns I run across during my travels. This one will probably not be standing much longer and that part of our heritage will disappear.

NJ Barn

I know when most people think of New Jersey they think of two things, the staging area for NYC and the mafia. 😉

The official tag for NJ is “The Garden State” and when you get to the central and southern part of the State it does become rural.

Northern Wisconsin – The old wooden barn

Wooden barns were common a century ago when a much larger portion of the population was on the farm. This particular barn was from my wife’s distant relatives. That is about all that is left of this old homestead.

We just got back from our annual trip to northern Wisconsin this week. We re-supply our cherry inventory and visit the in-laws.  This time we trekked through country roads and took quite a few more pictures of barns. Here is one of them.
