There are all kinds of people around today who hand out advice on what jobs will be the most secure in today’s world environment. They say things like nursing and such can’t be outsourced to another country. But there is now a trend to have surgeries performed in other countries for a fraction of the cost here in the U.S. so I’m not so sure that even nursing is a secure occupation for the future.
But I think, if things continue on the way they are now, I have the absolute surest job for tomorrow. It doesn’t take a lot of education to be qualified for this job. It certainly can’t be exported. It seems like the epitome of job security. What is this ideal job?
House Sitting for the 1%.
Yeah, you heard me right, house sitting. Given the fact that most of the 1%ers own multiple houses and can’t really live in more than one at a time they need people to take care of their houses when they are not there. If things keep going like they have for the last decade or so it is likely that guys like John McCain, Mitt Romney, and many CEOs will be adding to their housing inventory in the future. After all it is really hard to spend all that wealth without plunking down a couple of million bucks on a regular basis.
Of course these guys won’t pay you much above minimum wage but that is ok as long as you get a good food budget to go along with the job. Free room and board can go a long way for the rest of us. If you really want a secure job you had better start putting your resume together to make you sound like the ideal house sitter. That is where the future lies for us 99%ers if things keep going as they are…..
