I Was Wrong, I Wasn’t Born 20 Yrs Too Early…

I have been doing quite a bit of reading lately about the future, and I am quite excited about what will come in the years ahead. Despite what all the popular movies that predict the future of gloom and doom, the reality is that the future will see advances like no other in human history. For that reason,

With all this reading I have been doing I will undoubtedly be giving you reasons for this proclamation in future posts. I totally realize that we are on the cusp of a new world beyond what the Industrial Revolution provided for me during my time on this world

When I graduated from college in 1970, the most advanced tool I used during that time was my bamboo slide rule. The simple calculator was yet to be invented, personal computers were still beyond the horizon, and AI was just a dream of Sci Fi futurists. When I was born polio was the scourge of the earth, and cancer was a guaranteed death sentence. Cars were klutzy at best with an average useful age of 5 years or so. They typically got 10 – 15 mpg and put out massive amounts of pollution.

Now, 50 years later, many forms of cancer have been defeated, polio is just a story of the past. I have apps that help me hear and cope in the hearing world, that I didn’t have just 5 years ago. Robots are finally taking over the totally mind numbing assembly line work. AI is just beginning to show us a glimpse of the future.

A lot has happened during my time, but it will be nothing compared to what will happen in the next 50 years. I wish I could be a part of that. I really think I could provide value to some of that stuff.
