Core 4 – Spotlight & InSearchOfAmerica

During my 55 years of traveling across America, I have taken thousands of pictures, and have only managed to show you a small portion of them. I came up with a couple of ideas to partially alleviate that. But then again, maybe the primary reason for these new subjects is that I want to get my mind off all the insanity presently going on inside the Beltway. 🤬

I have always been fascinated by

  • Reenactments – I simply love historic reenactments, and have visited scores of them. One of my main regrets is that I never considered being a reenactor.
  • Glass – mainly of glass-fronted buildings reflecting other buildings around them. But, really, just anything glass including paperweights, art, etc.
  • Stoplights appear in many of my downtown photos. Sometimes, I even search them out for a photo Don’t ask me why, but for some reason, they simply fascinate me.
  • Containers – Yesterday’s containers were very artsy and deserve a category of their own.

Almost every trip I have taken I end up with at least a few photos that fit the above list. So, I am hereby dedicating a new category here on RJsCorner entitled “Core 4 – Spotlights”. This will also be another wall in my RetCom apartment. (I’m running out of walls 😎)

Another new category is “InSearchOfAmerica”. This was actually a popular topic at RJsCorner a dozen years ago, so maybe I should say it is a resurrected topic. These were popular posts that my readers seem to enjoy. They are written in the narrative or journal type style, kind of like one of my favorite books entitled “Travels with Charlie – In search of America. I read this book in my youth. It was one of my first “big-boy” books. I ended up reading all of Steinbeck’s books before I was a teenager. I’m ready to do this again and hope my new readers enjoy them as much as I enjoy posting them.

An example of this category is actually the post I wrote yesterday.

I look forward to showing my new category of pictures and telling you my travel stories in 2025.
