Quote – I’m Just Not One To Follow The Crowd

Einstien

Anyone who has been around RJsCorner knows that I have never been one to follow the crowd. Even at a very young age, that has never appealed to me. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that an autobiography of Einstein was the first “big boy” book I read. I was 11 years old when I read it, and it affected me greatly. Except for his very high intelligence, so much of my life mirrored his.

So, it is not difficult to understand that many of his quotes will be included in this category of “Wisdom In A Nutshell”. Speaking as pointedly at possible being part of the crowd has NEVER appealed to me. I have been an Aspie all my life, and this trait is certainly part of that spectrum. Finding the joy of going on your own path has made my life more fulfilling than I could have dreamed. But not being part of the crowd means that I find myself always living outside the margins. Sometimes that can be lonely, but that’s OK.

  1. I think living on the margins is quite different from being detached. On the margins you are close enough to the general flow of society and other people to connect when comfortable and useful to you. But, you are not in the mainstream, so can disconnect as needed.

Margin-living seems a very wise place to be.

    1. I like your description of living on the margins, Bob. It perfectly explains what I encounter. I can get involved in “Crowd” things when I want and disregard them other times. Most of the time it is the latter. Given my genes, I am now living on borrowed time and I don’t want to waste any of it on issues I can’t really do anything about. I will leave that up to those who came after me. 😁
