I Am Determined…

One of the things in life that I have constantly struggled with, especially in the 25 years since I left the corporate world, is purpose. Like most of us, I imagine, I need to think I am contributing to making a better world. I realize I am just a speck of dust in the universe, but even a speck of dust must have a purpose, if nothing more than to annoy neat freaks.

My mental acuity is dropping now, so writing 500-word posts is becoming more of a struggle. That doesn’t mean that I will stop Having My Say, but it does mean that those posts will come less frequently.

Without Having My Say, I need something to fill the void. That is the purpose of my new My Artsy Side categories. I have been having my doubts lately about my ability to do artsy. The likely reason for that, I think, is that I am too old and just not good enough of an artist.

Then I read that Grandma Moses didn’t start seriously painting until she was 78! That just happens to be where I am currently. If she can do it, then so can I! I have frequently said that, according to my genes, I am living on borrowed time, but is that really true? How many years do I have left? I just don’t know, and there is no sense in even contemplating that fact.

So, here I am, reinvigorated to become accomplished at Artsy. I have achieved a lot in my life, so why not finally include becoming an artist on that list? I am going to try my darnedest to make that happen.

  1. If the art you create stimulates, prods, engages, enrages, or simply makes you question something, it is worth it.

The only art critic worth a damn is you, and we tend to be too critical of ourselves.

Developing your artsy side is a journey that will never end.

    1. What gives me joy is the most important thing at this point in my life. On a side track, I have an Amazon app that shows me pictures I have taken on that day in years past. Three years ago today was when we finally met in person.

Tell Betty thanks again for being the inspiration for my artsy travels. If I had not seen her art, I might not be where I am today.
