Mosaic of Life #155 – Snowbound

My 2025 goal for RJsMosaic of Life is to fill in important holes in my life experience. To that end, here is one of those times. But, it absolutely needs a life story to explain it.

One of the things associated with my deafness is that I have only a visual sense of balance. If I close my eyes and try to walk, I will certainly fall down after a few steps. This unique sense of balance makes walking on ice/snow especially dangerous for me. For that reason, I have to stay indoors during heavy snow like the one shown above.

Except for cooking, which I was the primary chef in our household, everything inside the house, my wife had veto-power. Outside the house, except for her flower gardens, I had the veto power and duties. One of those duties was to take the trash barrel out to the roadside and pick it up after it was emptied. I always did that, except for slippery conditions. The picture above was one of those times.

Another one of my duties was to take Beulah, our Bassett hound, for her daily strolls outside the fenced backyard. She definitely felt that the grass was always better on the other side of the fence. So, that is why she is shown above. Two birds with one stone…
