RJsCorner has been about several different things throughout its 17-year history. I believe that it has now evolved into its final purpose, and that is:
Having My Say — Life on the Margins — My Artsy Side
Let’s look at these three topics:
Having My Say:
You could say that “Having My Say” is what I have learned from my life’s mantra
Think for yourself – Question everything – Never Stop Learning
All my life, but especially in my 25 retirement years, I have picked a topic to dig deep into. I have often spent several months to several years learning as much as I can about it. That usually means becoming intimately familiar with its history. Discussing those topics is the main theme for HMS.
Another personal aspect of HMS is that I don’t often hold back on what I say. To some people I am BLUNT to an excessive degree. I frequently admit that there is a direct link between my brain and my mouth. Characteristically, I don’t see that as a liability but instead as an asset, and I hope that shows up on my HMS posts.
But, perhaps the main inspiration of “Having My Say” comes from a book that I have read annually for the last 15 years entitled “Having Our Say – The Delany Sisters” If you would like to know more about that click HERE.
Life On the Margins:
Life On the Margins means different things to different people. My worldview is most often contrary to what most see as “normal”. I say there is no such thing as normal. We all have, or should have unique views on almost everything.
Many topics are covered in LOM including:
- adversities I face in my personal life.
- refusing to live in the boxes that the mainstream dictates.
- having unique perspectives that are seen as threatening by many.
- being stuck between two different worlds and not fitting in either.
- having contrarian views more often than not.
- believing empathy is something to be practiced instead of parroted.
- learning to draw outside the lines of life.
- this list goes on and on…
Expect to see all of the above in this category
My Artsy Side:
I firmly believe that all of us are born with a unique view of life and that goes for art. Sadly being artsy is usually quickly stripped from us when we are children. If it isn’t done by the obsessent learning of boring rules, it is stifled by the mainstream as not worthy of anything but maybe a hobby.
I have spent the last couple of years thoroughly entranced in Artsy. It started out with my “Mosaic of Life” wall in 2024 and continues today with other projects. I wish I had started down this path long before now as it is proving to be quite a satisfying path for my remaining retirement years.
If none of the above interests you, you are in the wrong place.

I just ordered the Delany sisters’ book. You have sold me on its importance.
