“People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share your views with them”
-Henry Louis Mencken- (1880-1956)
This brings back a memory of my early years soon after I joined the corporate world. I was renting a house in a blue collar neighborhood when two Mormons came to the door and wanted to share their version of religion with me. It so happened that I had recently read a book about Mormonism. I listened to their stories and then told them some of the rather negative things I had just read about the subject. When I said I wanted to tell them some about my view of religion, they didn’t say anything but couldn’t get out the door fast enough. And they didn’t leave a brochure!
There are now thousands of different versions of Christianity around today, and each one thinks they are the only ones to have it right. That fact greatly tarnishes each and every one of them. We are all just too busy making a god in our image.
