Quote For Today
“The road to creativity passes so close to the madhouse and often detours or ends there.”
-Ernest Becker-
==== Having My Say =================
The first artist I was enamored by was Van Gogh. The painting that drew me in was “Starry Night”. I never read his biography, but over the years I have gotten to know him pretty well. In learning about him I came to realize that we shared many of the same frustrations in life. Maybe I should be happy that my artsy times came later in life as he committed suicide in 1890 at the age of 35 🙃 (just kidding). But then again, I have never depended on selling my art to put a roof over my head.
I know the “frustrated artist” is a well-known perception, I suspect there is at least a hint of that being true. But, I kinda suspect that most creative people celebrate their lives, I know I am happier now than I have likely been in my life. Now that my creativity has taken a dominant portion of my time I feel truly fulfilled. I have a few times in my life approached the “madhouse” but those were fleeting.
==== By The Way ====================
I’m kinda getting my annual dose of “cabin fever” now. It’s been a week since we got our 14 inches of snow, but it has only briefly been above freezing since then. Next week they say it will be back into the 50s, so maybe I can get out for some errands.
