Tip Our Cups Over…

We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out. ”

-Ray Bradbury-

Ray Bradbury is most famous for his iconic science fiction and fantasy works, particularly the dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451, about book burning, and his short story cycles. His book entitled The Martian Chronicles which he wrote in 1950 about events ranged from 1999 to 2026.  I read the book in the early 1960s. I need to read it again from a different perspective.

As the quote says, Ray certainly knew how to spill himself over. I kinda think I have that ability too. Maybe a little of him rubbed off on me at that early age. That’s kinda the way you get wiser as you age.

Getting to the point of this post, what is the most tragic thing to me is that so many people never even try to fill their cups, let alone tip them over. By that I mean that they don’t read books and learn lessons of life that others might teach them. They simply cling to what they are told by their immediate clan. Their cups are like the Sahara Desert. That saddens me greatly
