Just Call Me Eccentric…

“Eccentric describes behavior or people that deviate from conventional, everyday norms in odd, whimsical, or unconventional ways, often characterized by being independent and non-conformist.”

Whether I like it or not, the social world runs on labels. Everything must be tagged so that those in the mainstream can put us in the right box. If you haven’t figured it out by now the mainstream is all about conformity. Personally, I have had so many labels attached to me that I feel sticky all over from the glue.

I know that the common definition for “eccentric” shown above pretty much describes me, so if you must, you can put that label on me. Most of the other labels that people try to attach to me are things that they think need fixing. At one time I owned the label “Autistic” but I have shed that because the medical establishment has now decided that Autism needs to be cured, and I would never allow that to happen to me.

They have not yet gotten around to putting eccentric on the list to be cured, so if I must, I claim ownership of being eccentric.
