A biography of Einstein was the first “big boy” book I read. I was nine-years-old at the time but the story of Einstein clung to me in the decades since. In fact, at such an early age I was convinced that I wanted to be an astronomer. He was quite different a person than those around him, and I found that fascinating.
It is commonly stated that he was autistic, but given what I know now, and the fact that the medical establishment is finally beginning to recognize that they went overboard by including way too wide a spectrum, these labels will be changing in the coming years.
But, it is no exaggeration to label him eccentric. I have posted many times about that.
The quote above is when he experienced an aortic aneurysm, he declined surgery to fix it. I hope that I am able to do the same when my time comes. I have frequent nightmares about lingering on death’s door for months just waiting for my body to finally give out.
