I went to college in upstate New York not far from the Finger Lakes. The small towns, rural feel, and the five lakes make it well worth artsy status.

Yeah, it kinda surprised just how desolate that area is. Going from Boston to Albany was quite a stretch.

Off topic, but I thought you might like a laugh–or at least a chuckle.
Two cowboys are lost in the desert. One sees a tree that is draped with bacon. “A bacon tree! We’re saved!” He runs to the tree and is immediately shot.
It wasn’t a bacon tree. It was a ham bush.
