A Waddling Gait…

I am always on the search of different ways to explain things. I don’t know why, but the title words above suddenly popped off the top of my mind. I made a brief visit to my RetCom’s social hour a while ago and had a healthy glass of wine. That is likely the cause.

I make fun of it, but my gait seems to get worse as each week passes now. I wonder how long it will be before I join what seems to be the majority here at my RetCom with one of the various mobility aids I see every day. I am just not ready for that day, but when it comes, But I’m pretty sure I will accept it as part of my life going forward.

  1. When it was time for my mom to get a walker, she gave it a name: Big Red. By personalizing it she made it part of her life and less of a sign of weakness. It became her helper.

    1. Big Red… Since I live in Bloomington Indiana, which is Indiana University territory, and one of their sports cheers is “Go Big Red”, I guess that would be appropriate for me. But, since I went to college at Purdue, which is their main rival, I would feel as if I was denying my alma mater.🤪

When the time comes for me to get a mobility device, I won’t hesitate to do so. But that won’t be a day of rejoicing.
