Mosaic of Life #99 – National Railroad Museum – Green Bay Wisconsin

I was definitely impressed with the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin a few years ago. My in-laws are in that part of the country, so I have been to the area many times. I don’t know how I discovered this hidden gem, but I am glad I did.

It is a relatively new museum, in that it was founded a little over sixty years ago. It is astonishing how complete it is now. I intended to spend a couple of hours there but ended up most of the day.

I have been infatuated with railroads from a young age. I have tried my hand at making a model railroad on a couple of occasions, and thought about it for my RetCom (retirement community) years, but don’t think I have the eyes for it anymore, especially the HO scale (1:87).

One of my earliest idols in life was Woody Guthrie, who is the godfather of folk music. He spent many years riding the rails and writing folk songs, so that is another link. I will soon be telling you about his museum in Tulsa OK here.

I will let the pictures below tell you the rest of the story. If you find yourself in that area of the country, consider visiting. Click on any of the pictures below to see a larger slideshow view.
