About Human Behavior

Human behavior flows from three main sources: desire, emotion, and knowledge.

-Plato-

In case you are not up on Greek Philosophers, Plato learned at the feet of Socrates and then went on to teach his student Aristotle. I don’t know when I started studying these guys, but it was early on. As seen from this quote, trying to understand emotions has been around for thousands of years and we still don’t get it. But we do know that emotions are a fundemental part of what it means to be human. Even in Plato’s day it was understood that knowledge was a control for both desires and emotions. Or at least it should be.

Let’s get back to today’s world. Am I the only one to see how Facebook is now more a shopping channel than a way to keep up with family and friends? I don’t know when it started but it is going full speed in that direction now. But even more sadly, how the seller describes their product is often not truthful. There just seems to be nobody at FaceBook who is looking out for us. So, It is now a Caveat Emptor world, even on Facebook.

  1. i’ve deleted my facebook. i kept my instagram, but i don’t post. i wish the world was more like it was before the internet. maybe we keep the internet for some things, but design the world in a better way do people have enough time and money for meaningful social interactions. it’s like plastic. we shouldn’t use it for everything. idk why we have plastic soap or laundry detergent containers. i’ve switched to detergent sheets in a box. but, we probably really benefit from plastic medical equipment. we did notice the uptick of marketplace on fb and you’re right, it’s a lot of dishonest sellers. i applaud the “buy nothing” movement but i don’t want to have to have a fb to participate.
