Old Age is Definitely Relative

“Forty is the old age of youth; fifty the youth of old age.”

-Ernest Victor Hugo-

I certainly agree with the quote above, but now that I have almost completed eighty years, I admit that I am finally old. My personal quote for today and this topic is to celebrate every day that comes now, as I am definitely living on borrowed time and still have much to say.

This quote reminds me of one by Mark Twain, in which he said he never feels old until he looks in the mirror. I am neurodiverse and don’t do much eye contact even with myself, but when I occasionally look at myself in the mirror, I often wonder who that is looking back at me.

I am falling into a pattern here on RJsCorner and if you know me at all you know I love patterns. I have been developing this format for my quotes posts for a few months now and am convinced that I almost have it just the way I want it. That makes me happy and peaceful. I love this particular segment of the post and the tiny book that brought it on. If you want to see more about that, click HERE. It is about anything I happen to be noticing (thinking about) at the time of the writing. I will be using this same “Today I Noticed” block over at my artsy blog, but there it will also include some doodle images similar to the book from which the inspiration came.
