Quote For Today
“If you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.”
-Ken Robinson-
There are just too many people who are risk-averse in this world today. They think being wrong is some grave thing to be avoided if at all possible. Then there are those of us who see being wrong is simply part of the creative process. I personally am wrong more than I am right, and I’m fine with that.
When I wake up at 5:00AM each day, I usually have at least a half dozen ideas swirling in my mind. Some of those things I will ponder that day, but there are others that are just quick thoughts of potential things to do. My first awake hour I parse through the list and eliminate the obvious. I then go into the 2nd pot to determine if some action needs to be taken. Then there are those where I spend hours, if not days, working on them before I discover that they are wrong. I would say that only one in a half dozen thoughts ever get beyond the initial parsing process, and one in ten to the final action stages.
Being wrong is simply a part of my daily creative process, and I like it that way.
