By Being a Follower….

Source Article:  Republicans unready to rout Obama – chicagotribune.com.

What I find most interesting about this article is quote below.

America is finally wising up to President Barack Obama, a nice guy who prepared for the presidency by being a follower, by avoiding confrontation while cozying up to City Hall.

These words are from a long time Chicago Tribune reporter. Of course Chicago is the adopted home of Barak Obama. Maybe I heard these words during the campaigns of 2008 but they were drowned out by all the rhetoric and “change” words that were flying around at the time. I don’t know; maybe I was just hoping for change a little too much to hear them. But in reality they pretty much describe the person who presently works out of the Oval Office. I guess I should not be so surprised that he is unable to even begin to match his words with actions.

The article does go on to state that the apparent Republican candidate, no matter who he/she is from the current crop will have little chance of winning the White House. They all seem more seriously flawed then the person they are trying to replace.  It is little wonder that the American populace has a disgust with things political now days.

We are all waiting for our superhero to show up and save the day. But it seems that superheros are meant for the fictional world, not the one we live in but the one we wished we lived in.

But what do I know….

  1. We don’t need a superhero. We need an honest leader, honest and dedicated legislative members, and a public that agrees discourse is better than ranting. The idea of a democracy is currently under assault from all sides. Selfishness has replaced compromise which does not bode well for our future.

Obama has been a major disappointment in his almost complete lack of leadership and backbone. I’m afraid we were so desperate for someone who was different from long time politicians and someone who had a brain, we fell for the rhetoric and not the track record.

  2. Hi Bob, hope your are thoroughly enjoying your vacation.

You say we don’t need a superhero but someone who is “honest”, “dedicated”, “and has an agreeing public” kind of describes a superhero in today’s environment? I can’t think of a single person in today’s politics that would have these criteria.
