I try to follow my hero’s advice and like everyone but this is one of those times that proves difficult to do that. Balancing the budget on the backs of the poor is a very spiteful way to even try to accomplish that task.

Leaving aside the ethical considerations and compassion issues, that doesn’t make sense economically, either. When someone tells me, for example, that illegal immigrants should be denied hospital care or their children, schooling, I think, do we want people who might have been exposed to tuberculosis, for example, to be walking about untreated? Do we want children growing up in our country with no hope or education? How does that benefit us or save us money in the long run?
