I am one who rails against anyone who insists that I know my place. That is that I keep within my sphere of life. The British have always been more in that mode that we Americans. The Royal Family with all it kings, queens, dukes, arch-dukes and all that is about knowing your place. They are the privileged ones and the rest are surfs doing their biding. I just can’t abide by that. But in some ways we all must come to realize just where we have landed in our society.
If you haven’t noticed by now my moniker for this new blog is “TWiG” that stands for “I am That Wise Guy”. But on reflection it is also a belief that I am a twig on the tree of life. A twig usually only supports a leaf or two on the tree. It is not very important, kind of like being one ant in a colony. Alone I don’t matter much but if I gather with other twigs we increase our importance.
I really don’t mind being a twig, at this point in my life I have no desire to be much more than that. No one hangs on my words on this or any of my other blogs. Some stop by for a few minutes to be entertained but that is about all. I know I don’t have a lot of influence on anyone’s beliefs or opinions, if anyone in the country ever really does.
One of my favorite concepts of life is “looking over the sides of your box”. That is don’t get stuck on simply one way to think or act. Be willing to listen to other opinions and adjust your attitudes to new facts. Too many just seem to be stuck in one mode. Call it what you will but too many live life with very irrational beliefs. The Confederate flag stuff going on today is an example of that.
Getting back to it I am a TWiG on the tree of life but I am also that Wise Guy who has learned my lessons in life…
