I don’t have time for people who want things that I don’t want.
I recently heard the words above during a TV show and they stuck to me. I admit that I am a very focused person. Once I get something in my mind I pay almost total attention to it. That makes me appear to sometimes be insensitive to others around me. It gets me in trouble sometimes, no, actually many times.
After thirty years of marriage my wife has come to understand this in me and usually gives me room when I am in such a focused mode. She knows not to disturb me when she hears my keyboard clicking away. She knows, at least in these moments, that I don’t have time for people who want things that I don’t want.
On yet another level I just don’t have time for people who strive for things that I don’t value. There are a lot of ambitious people whose sole goal is to make a lot of money. Many of the most successful of them are found near Wall Street in NYC. I don’t have time to give them much thought. I have come to realize that my time on the earth is limited and I don’t want to spend what is left of it on people who want things that I don’t want.
