The best description of my country right now is a thousand pieces of shattered glass. Like Humpty Dumpty it’s hard to imagine putting it back together. I am a history buff, so I know this is not the first time we have dealt with this type of situation, but it does seem like the worst occurance to this 75-year-old.
In the past, we have always been able to overcome, or maybe at least tolerate, our differences in order to put our nation back together. That is not a guaranteed thing, but…
I am an optimist, or at least trying to be, so I will envision positive things. The initial thoughts for this post came from the graphic above. It is hundreds of slivers of glass that have come together to make a beautiful image. Time may be running out for me to see this once again melding together, but I can dream that it will happen. Sadly, too many of us frequently fixate on the “me”, and are threatened by those outside their comfortable neighborhood. Let’s hope that future generations who will be taking over the power have less of these folks than there are now. I kinda think that will happen, and the history books will show our current times as a major turning point in our national narrative.
