A Picture Is Worth…

This looks like a good one for the first “A Picture Is Worth…” post

I have been trying to figure out a way to let some of my lesser seen creativity loose here on RJsCorner. My creative urges just never seemed to be quenched. Here is the latest idea. A Picture Is Worth… will be where I take photos from my 20,000+ picture portfolio and give you a story about where I was, what I was thinking, and maybe what I learned from the circumstances of the photo. Of course, the title of this new category comes from the phrase

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

In that light, this category of posts will abandon my 500-word limit so my creative juices can flow a little more freely. Maybe this idea is just a flash in the pan, but I see it as a way of recalling memories and giving stories to those thousands of pictures I have stored away.

Of course, one picture will likely spur others, so some posts might end up being more of a photo collage instead of just one pictures and the thoughts behind it. I will leave that possibility open, as I really don’t know just where this new category will take me right now…

I think this idea may also quench my desire for authoring some short stories. When I looked up just how long short stories are supposed to be, I found that they vary from 100 to 15,000 words, so you could say all my five thousand 500-word posts are short stories. But that is a cop-out, I will not make 😎.

Three of my lifelong favorite short story authors are the inspiration for this new category. They are John Steinbeck, Jack London, and Leo Tolstoy. I think I will dust off some of their works to help me learn to do better in this new endeavor.

The first real post in this category will use the picture at the top of this post, and used many other places around RJsCorner. More on that soon. Let’s close out this post with a little about some of my favorite authors mentioned above. I love these guys.
