I read a recent article about Judi Dench, who is a famous British actress. In that article, she said
The greatest thing of all is to have a sense of humor. And if you’re born with it, at least you’ve got that going for you. I’d be lost without it.Dame Judi Dench
That got me to thinking about being able to see the light side of most situations. I have had some pretty serious bouts of depression throughout my life, but being able to find humor in most situations has pulled me back from the brink a number of times.
I have been reading Will Rogers since an early age. His words are kind of entwined into my psyche now. I have put out hundreds of posts about Will here on RJsCorner. If you don’t believe me, click here. 😎 Will lived through the Great Depression, so he saw a lot of suffering. He was also a Native American, so that was another opportunity to be glum about things. But, he was always able to look on the light side with his humor. I have had some pretty depressing circumstances throughout my life too, but Will helped to give me a saving sense of humor. He will always be my hero because of that.
This is a side of me that I don’t think I have let shine enough in these recent years. I intend to do something about that. One of those things is to try to teach a new group of neighbors around RJsCorner about him.
I have thousands of quotes from Will, so I thought I would end this post with some of my favorites. With this introduction, I will put Will back on the front-burner here at RJsCorner.
