Useless Advice From One Boomer to AfterBoomers…

I don’t imagine that there are many from the generations after Baby Boomers who frequent RJsCorner, but that doesn’t stop me from giving those who might come around a little help for your years ahead. In fact, I hope to gain a following among Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z with this new series. I know you don’t think we Boomers have anything that you could value, but I am determined to prove you wrong, and in the process tease you about some of the foolish things you are probably doing that we Boomers didn’t have time to fix.

To make things easy for me, and at my age that is a necessity of life, I’m going to lump all you guys in one group who I will call AfterBoomers. Just to show you that I do know that you identify as separate groups, I give you the graphic at the top of this post, and will be included in all posts in the series.

I know it is important to give you my advice via a social media site as well as RJsCorner, as that is about all the reading you seem to do, and you seem to do social media everywhere you happen to be. So, I will be putting all the RJsCorner posts in this category on a new Facebook page I am presently working on entitled “Boomer To AfterBoomers“. I know Facebook might not be your favorite social media anymore, but I’m pretty sure you know how to get there, and I think you will see some benefit in reading what I have to say. Along with the pieces of advice I give you, I will also admit that we Baby Boomers left a lot of work for you to do, and we likely caused a good part of it.

These posts are meant to basically be a parody of life, and should not be taken as totally serious. But all of them have at least a good-sized ounce of truth. One of my heroes in life was Will Rogers. He had a talent for exaggeration for comic effect, and since I have read almost all he wrote, it kinda rubbed off on me. His writings will be an important part of this new category. I will leave just who he is for a future post. But, I will tell you up front, he has been dead for almost a hundred years! I’m sure you will find his quotes are as relevant now as they were back in his times.

If you have any advice for me on this new category, just keep it to yourself. 🙃

Postscript

I said above that this new category is intended for AfterBoomers, but I think all of my “old” readers will get a kick out of them. I am also hoping that you will put in your two-cents via your always valuable comments. 🙃

  1. I’m an Afterboomer who enjoys your blog. I guess I fall in Gen X although I’ve heard that these categories don’t apply as well to people born outside the US.

    1. Hi,S, and thank you for your first comment. Until you mentioned that the generation categories might not fit for those outside the U.S., I hadn’t thought about that. Anyway, I went and made my own category “AfterBoomers” that is those born after 1964, and you fit in that one very well. 🙃

I know from my stats at RJsCorner, about 20% of my readers are from outside the U.S. I’m proud of that fact. I welcome everyone to my blog and especially love to hear your comments.

      1. Thanks for the welcome. I live in the US but was born outside it and moved around quite a bit growing up so I’ve heard that the generalizations applied to the generations don’t apply as well to me.
