Quote For Today
Why don’t they pass a constitutional amendment prohibiting anybody from learning anything? If it works as good as prohibition did, in five years we will have the smartest people on earth.
-Will Rogers- 1934
==== Having My Say ==========================
Lord knows we need more educated people in this country. We don’t have to be the smartest, but just a little less dumb. Roughly 21% of U.S. adults are functionally illiterate, meaning they struggle with basic, daily reading tasks. While the average reading rate is 7th–8th grade, that’s 13 years-old. One of Thomas Jefferson’s most famous quotes is
Democracy depends on an informed electorate.
Wouldn’t it be nice to actually have that?
==== By The Way =========================
There is still a six foot pile of snow outside my window. – Except for a four-year stint in New Jersey, I am a lifelong Hoosier. The last blizzard-type snowstorm we had was in 1978. Since then, the weather has gotten warmer and warmer. Except for the period between mid-January and mid-February, our winter temperatures are now mostly in the 40s to 50s. The 14 inches of snow we had last week is still around as we have not been above freezing since then. I want this stuff gone! I would never consider moving south, but I might just turn into a snowbird. (just kidding) 😎
