Next month I will have been in my RetCom for five years. It is such a dramatic difference from my homestead of 21 years that I left behind when I came here. The homestead was a 2.5 acre spread with large mature trees throughout the property. My RetCom apartment has an 8 x 10 deck where I often spend time just contemplating life, so to speak. The trouble is that the deck is totally surrounded by buildings. But if I place my rocking chair just right and look up, as shown in the picture below, I still have a narrow wisp of trees on horizon. I was doing that just now and my mind’s eye could remember two of my favorite things.
The first was the 1971 song by Don Mclean entitled “Vincent” and the second was the painting by Vincent Van Gogh entitled Starry Night. The above image is the result that my mind’s eye created. I kinda like the results. The image above now has a special place on the wall just before I step out on the deck.
