I’m kinda considering moving to another RetCom, so I am now looking at the possibilities. Do I limit myself to a CCRC or maybe consider the other end of the spectrum and look into a 55+ facility with no medical backup? 

 Another consideration is location.  That is what today’s post is all about. 

I am getting bored, so maybe I should move to another State? During my initial investigations, almost 10 years ago, I was seriously considering Santa Fe New Mexico. It was radically different than the Midwest. Maybe that is what I need?  Of course, some other possibilities are the usual retirement States of Florida or Arizona. When my wife and I first discussed RetComs she adamantly refused to consider those two possibilities, but since she has proceeded me in death, they are possibilities this time around.

After my 2022 visit to Florida, and especially “The Villages”, it seems that Florida is just one giant walker/wheelchair State,  and since I am viewing this from my “Eternal Self”mode (click HERE if you need to know what that is about) I guess I need to eliminate Florida as any potential “move to” State.

Then there is Arizona. Right after I left Florida I headed for Arizona. Unfortunately, I had to go through Texas to get there, but every reward means sacrifices along the way. It was the month of May, which is Spring time to us Midwesterners, so I expected moderate temperatures. What I got was night/early morning temperatures all the way down to 85° and afternoon temps were 110+ °. So that necessitated  sleeping in hotel rooms instead of my uRV. That was NOT a positive point. 

Now onto my final point for this post. I have the $1 a week feed of the New York Time that I quickly browse through every morning, and part of that are are high temperatues and rain warning that often include Phoenix. As shown on the one to the right, Phoenix had dangerous heat index and a Tucson had risk of excessive rain.

That brought to mind the idea of frying eggs on asphalt roadways. But, maybe for Arizona it means boiling eggs with hot Arizona rain. 😎

After thinking about it for a while I decided that I would rather have an occasional snowstorm that stayed on the ground a couple of  a couple days instead of boiling eggs in Arizona rain water in the summer months.

Let’s close out this foolishness with the decision to mark Florida and Arizona off my possible move list. Santa Fe is still on the list of possible location moves, more on that later…
