Age only matters when one is aging. Now that I have arrived at a great age, I might as well be twenty.
Pablo Picasso
I am fascinated by Picasso images and even more by his concept of time. Personally, it took a while, but I too have arrived at a great age and so I might as well be forty-two. Why forty-two? I think that was the point when I finally began to figure out who I “am”, so I simply quit counting after that. If you have been around RJsCorner for a while you might recognize this stuff as “My Eternal Self” that I have described on several recent posts. Of course, I didn’t have all the answers at 42 that I have now, but I finally had enough to know the person I wanted to be.
My words of wisdom here is that it’s always easier to know yourself when you are looking back than it is when you are looking forward.
Ironically the fact that my “Eternal Self” also corresponds to the year I went totally deaf. In some ways my life ended then and a second life in a silent world began. They say when you lose one of your senses the other senses become more acute. Maybe that partially explains why I became philosophically more aware in my second life?
