Small towns like Orleans in Orange County Indiana were once thriving towns. I can imagine that the domed top of this building was the major attraction in the area. Like most building of this era some of the windows have been bricked over and are no longer occupied.

I am afraid small town America is almost a thing of the past. There are no commons anymore and each town seems to fade into the next. However, it is the little hamlets that keep me going. Please stay the same!

Hi “Nellie” and welcome to InSearchOfAmerica. I grew up in a small rural town in the Midwest. It still exist but sadly it, like many others, isn’t much now.

I reside in a small town and I am active in an even smaller one. Nellie Sheridan, is the niece of P. H. Sheridan, and Somerset is rural, historical, and beautiful. I think its quaint simply because it retains much of its original integrity. Sadly, corporations are starting to find their way to Perry County.
