RetComLife – The Second Shoe – Making Things Better

My RetCom Executive Director is a multitalented person, but I kinda think she would welcome some help in making things better.

Yesterday’s post was about one of the two things I am doing to basically change where I am going with RetComLife. Today’s post is the second shoe

I don’t want to be one of those people who simply complains about things, but yes, I do find many things to complain about here on RJsCorner. One of the categories that houses the most complaints is likely RetComLife. I can see so many areas around my RetCom that could use some improvements, especially to get ready for us Baby Boomers who will soon be flooding the facilities.

I don’t want to be seen as just a complainer, so in additions to my new “Fitting In” subcategory discussed yesterday, I am starting another subcategory here entitled “Making Things Better“. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am changing the basic focus on RetComLife going forward. I do this for two reasons:

  • To help make improvements to my, and other, RetComs to make them more welcoming to us Baby Boomers. We will be coming to retirement communities full speed ahead in the next few years.

  • Since I am committed to staying here, possibly for the rest of my life, I want to make my RetCom a happier, more pleasant, place for me to live. I want to enjoy my life, not just endure it. Having a happy home is germane to that happening.

The posts in this new subcategory will be in a specific format. It will start out with the opportunity for Improvement, followed by one or more possible ways to make the situation better. I will do my best to keep this new subcategory of posts as positive as possible. Honey gets a lot more attention than spite and bitterness as we old folks are sometimes known for.

Of course this new subcategory is meant for my executive director and her staff. I hope they read these suggestions. Just to draw their attention to my suggestions, I will likely email them when new posts happen. 😎

But, I kinda think my suggestions will apply to many other RetComs too.
