Turning The Spigot Back On…

I have enough posts in my queue now, so I am opening the spigot today. When I was looking for a graphic for today’s post, I initially searched for a water spigot. But I think the picture here is a better fit. I plan to do more to celebrate each day as it comes. What better way to celebrate than with a good beer? 🥸

Going forward, there will be some deviation in my path at RJsCorner. I am getting better and better at ignoring all the political insanity, so you will be seeing very little of that venue going forward. I am also getting tiring of writing about my deafness and Aspie traits. I think I have just about said all I need to say about them. Finally, moaning so much about “poor me” is accomplishing nothing, so that will happen less frequently now. With all these things taking a back burner here, what am I going to be focusing on?

Slowly but surely, I have come to realize that I need to live more in today, and in to my own pleasures in life. I have spent much of my time on this earth thinking about others, mostly those who have had more struggles than me. I don’t know how much longer I will be on this earth, so maybe it is time to start thinking about myself a little more. It’s time to concentrate on doing things that give me pleasure. It’s also time to make some decision and quit procrastinating about some unresolved issues.

When I said the things above will take a back burner, I don’t mean that they will disappear. I, like almost everyone, has opinions that might make things better for all of us. I couldn’t put those aside, even if I wanted to. But, instead, other topics will move to the foreground.

Here is that list:

  • Quotes – I love learning from others wiser than me. The easiest, and maybe best, way to do that is through quotes. Over the years, I have collected many quotes from many people. I intend to make them a regular part of RJsCorner going forward.
  • Short Stories & Pictures – For the last dozen years or so, I have tried to limit my posts to 500 words or less. Going forward, that limit will be reduced even more. In some ways, getting the point across in fewer words is more difficult than just spewing the words out. I have always disliked the phrase “Do more with less”, but maybe it applies here.
  • Special Projects – I love picking a topic and then studying it until I think it is complete. That will happen more frequently here in future posts. The first topic will be Leo Tolstoy. The guy fascinates me. What other topics will evolve is simply a guess. The saying “I’ll know it when I see it”, but I promise that I will try my best to make the interesting to you.

There you have it. Let me know what you think.

  1. Based on your comment from an earlier post, I picked up a copy of Tolstoy’s, “A Calendar of Wisdom,” a collection of quotes and ideas to help give each day a positive focus.

Except as the author of some very famous, very long books, I knew nothing about him. He will make a fascinating study for you.

    1. I love discovering new heroes in my life, unfortunately, almost all of them are dead by the time they get my notice. The first such case was Einstein. He got my attention when I was ten years old. He had recently died, so that is probably the original source of why I took up a study of him. While I was in my teenage years, I read several other books about him.

Yes, Tolstoy will be a fascinating person to get to know. He has written hundreds of books and such on a numerous number of topics. I am fascinated by his view of Christianity. Of what I have read, they say that Tolstoy influenced Gandhi greatly. That link, alone, will be very interesting to study.
