What Is This?

I wonder how many of you can guess what this picture is? It’s been more than 40 years since it was built, so I imagine that many of the recent generations don’t recognize. But, I’m pretty sure most of my generation will easily remember it.

The tiled surface gives it away. Each of the 5 operational units were covered in 30,000 tiles, If my memory serves me correctly they were in operation from 1982 to 2011. Two of the units were destroyed during missions resulting in the loss of 14 lives.
