Are you still living a version of your life that was assembled by others, or have you designed the life YOU want to live? That is a question that I have struggled with throughout my 80 years of life. I am finally beginning to understand the ramifications of that quest. Better late than never.
As you know from the header at the top of this blog, one of my life’s mantras is to question everything; don’t take anything just because someone tells you to believe or do. At least to me questioning everything has never been an act of rebellion. It is just me trying to figure my own life path forward. I have discovered that figuring out who I want to be is not a one-time thing. It is a constantly evolving task. It takes time and I seldom get a reinvention right the first time or even two out.
But, questioning without building is fruitless. Committing to something is hard work. Questioning, but never commit makes it easy to become cynical. Some people in that mode are proud of rejecting, but vague of what they actually stand for. As shown above, one of my somewhat estranged heroes in life is Friedrich Nietzsche maybe said it best.
“Owning Myself”
What an interesting way to say it…
