The thing about simplicity is that it there are thousands of definitions of it. To some it means paring down from 200 to 100 pairs of shoes. To others it means just eating “simple” food. When I decided to go in depth on the topic of simplicity I had no idea it would be so complicated.
The idea of “simplify” has been on my agenda for decades. I had it in mind that if I could just simplify my life it would reduce all the anxiety and depression that often plagues my daily world. I have found that it is just not that simple.
Recently I have done quite a heavy search trying to discover the essence of simplicity. After all that time I have come to the conclusion that there is no secret way to accomplish simplicity. It is up to each of us to decide our personal path toward simplicity. Since no two people are alike, there is no “one way” to get there. Simplicity is perhaps the most complicated thing we will face in today’s ever changing world. How you manage to survive, and even flourish takes everything you got.
Having said all that, There are things that will help you on this rather jagged road of life. I will be talking about them in future posts on this subject. I will close out this post with the thought that simplicity is not one thing that once you accomplished will stay with you and never change for the rest of your life. Nothing in life is like that so why would you expect simplicity to be different?
