I’m feeling amazingly calm today so I thought I would give you a quick snapshot of where I have been spending considerable time lately. My RetCom apartment is on the second floor. The patio is small, you could even say cozy, but there is room enough for my outdoor rocking chair and my favorite rooster. I find myself spending some mornings and evenings, weather permitting, just rocking away and looking at my bluish haze.
For those who are not regulars to RJsCorner, I am talking about the four large pine trees at the top of the picture above. In a previous post I said they reminded me of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” painting. I even morphed another photo I took to show that effect. It is shown below. I know by some standards the patio is not enough but for me it serves the purpose of allowing me to calmly contemplate the day.

I love what you have done with the Starry Night effect. That is so clever.

Thanks Bob. Your comment has caused me to go on a different path at RJC. When 2026 started I intended to go more artsy, but somehow that didn’t happen. My wordsmith side took over and artsy has almost disappeared for this year. Starting today I am determined to bring back Artsy. It will start as a resurrection of “MyMindsEye, but will also include a new category that celebrates inventions and other accomplishments of my lifetime via hand drawn images and a few words.
Thanks for giving me the push I finally needed, even if you didn’t know you did it. 🙃

Interestingly, I am just about to start trying my hand at abstract art. After several years of landscapes, I am looking for something different. Abstract painting will be a challenge.

I think you will have fun with abstracts. You just need to not think so much and let your “inner being” decide what goes on the canvas. I am a person who almost insists being in control, so that was a hard lesson for me to learn. But once it’s done it is very “freeing”.
