There is innocence in youth, unclouded by history, politics, and conflict.
And maybe more so, the emotional baggage we carry through life strips us of our innocence?
Even with purposefully trying to avoid it, the politics of these current times is weighing on me. I can see so many of the gains my generation made being stripped away, even before I am gone.
We should all try, at least once in a while, to go back to those days of our youth. The days when we didn’t consider almost everyone else the enemy. The days when we accepted everyone as children of God. The days when religious institutions taught us about the love of God instead of labeling those they fear as threats to their way of life.
Or, maybe that was just a dream world that didn’t really exist
