Welcome to the Boomer to AfterBoomers Club. Since this is the first official post for this new series, I want to tell you about what the B2AB project is all about and why you should come back often to this fount-of-wisdom.🙃
I know you have a picture in your mind of just who Baby Boomers are. I suspect you think that we were born during the cave dwelling times (hence the header above). Yeah, the front end of Baby Boomers, like me, were born before computers, cell phones, and even calculators. That just means that we were the inventors of these things. Without our accomplishments, you wouldn’t have any of those things to take for granted.
I do kinda think that we Boomers have more innovators and progressives than any generation before us. The vote is still out on how your generations are doing in that regard. 😎 I wish you luck in that regard.
We, or at least some of us Boomers, accomplished much. But like any other generation, we have our share of “Proudly Ignorant/Gullible” people. I am embarrassed to even mention how so many Boomers are now a part of the MAGA cult. I know this is primarily due to their extreme panic about change, but that’s no excuse. If you come here for that kind of talk, you are in the wrong place. I’m going to talk about productive things and whimsical things, not fearful ones.
It’s time to tell you a little about the author of this series of posts, by that I mean me. I like the old saying that “Adversity Builds Character“, I have a lot of character. To start my life out, my mother was an extreme narcissist, very much like you-know-who. She abandoned me, my younger brother, and dad when I was nine-years-old. My father was a person of low esteem, and never had much to say to help me through early life, so I was mostly on my own. He certainly loved us, but…
Then I went deaf at midlife and later discovered that many of my lifelong personal “peculiarities” had a name, called Asperger’s Syndrome, which is now on the autism spectrum. With all of this adversity, I certainly have acquired a lot of wisdom. I’m going to give you a healthy free dose of that as this series progresses. They tell me I am pretty smart, and I have read LOTS of books and such, so maybe that makes me kinda like an expert on these things. Finally, Will Rogers was one of my primary heroes in life, so I intend to use a big dose of his humor and wisdom with my words. If you don’t know who Will is, just google him.
With of all this preparatory stuff now aside, next time I promise you my first dose of what I call wisdom, but you can call it whatever you want. I won’t mind.
