Augmented Reality #11 – Swimming With The Fishes.

I think all you semi-serious photographers out there know how this augmented Reality was formed. It is a quick snap of my display shelves using a fish eye lens. I wonder if that is how fish really see? :) The shelves used to be “book shelves” but since all those now reside in my e-book reader they have been repurposed to display all the artifacts from my uRV trips and “InSearchOfAmerica” wanderings along with my collection of cars. Socially Responsible Government?

It seems that so much of the rest of the countries of the world have learned that government by its fundamental nature must be a socially responsible institution. Yeah, we have “We the people…” at the beginning of our constitution, but lately we seem to be ignorant of what that means. Since social responsibility is one of my bedrock beliefs, I have been studying the Democratic field of presidential candidates to find those that have a socially responsible government as a core of their beliefs. I think I have found the candidate who epitomizes that arena.

Ft Wayne – Celebration of Glass

I was recently at the Ft. Wayne Museum of Art and came across a fabulous collection of glass. If I remember right it was on loan from the New York Museum of Modern Art. MAGA/Evangelicals

I don’t like labels but there is a “but” in that statement for me. We need to understand just why the major conflicts arise in our world and then be able to see who is causing them. We can no longer afford a general “Us vs Them” mentality. If that keeps up it will eventually destroy us. Without knowing who “Them” is or what percentage of the population they represent we may just go down in ashes. That is what this post is all about.

I’m Canadian, We Don’t Do “Proud

I’m pretty sure my roots go back to Great Britain, so maybe that is the reason I have such a kindred relationship with things Canadian. They still have the basic sense of being British engrained in them. :) The quote above is from Martha Atwood who is Canadian and the author of “The Handmaid’s Tale”.

When I heard the quote in the title from her it made me think just how fundamentally different Canadians are from their southern neighbors. That and a photo gallery of my 2011-month-long visit is what this post is about.

I took up this book to read again a few months ago but really haven’t gotten very far into it, but that is as it is. My Biggest Shock Upon Retirement!

Sometimes the journey into retirement just isn’t very joyous, in fact it can be a down right painful journey at times.

Like almost all of us I had many challenges in my early retirement years. I started my retirement from the corporate world at age 54 and like the cartoon above, I didn’t really have any retirement plan to guide me. The first few years were difficult but now after almost twenty years I think I have finally gotten most of it right.
